Dubai, November 2015

Hey Mummies and Daddies,

As promised (sorry its late!) is mine and Leo's trip to Dubai summed up in a few words and lots of pictures haha.
Even though I travelled with my parents abroad, I had the main responsibility of looking after Leo :)

This was a lot harder than you can imagine, there is so much to take for the little one such as things like remembering to pack his steriliser, milk, nappies, wipes and lots of toys to keep him entertained!
Luckily Emirates airline gave us 30kg allowance (we also checked in the pram and car seat for no extra cost!) Leo also had 10kg which helped a lot!
Flying with Emirates gave us the luxury of having a bassinet (baby cot) on-board the flight, this has to be pre-ordered over the phone but it was an absolute lifesaver for me and for Leo. He was so comfy and able to stretch out for the 8 hour flight!

The airline also provided milk on-board (mainly cow and gate) blankets and toys for the kids and a baby pack for Leo which contained wipes, bib, nappy and baby lotion!! As you can imagine this was all lovely to receive and made the experience very enjoyable. We also had our picture taken by the cabin crew on a polaroid camera which they carry to capture children's special moments during the flight, I found this such a lovely touch and Leo was posing as usual!

Also in Dubai airport after you land they provide pushchairs for people with infants and children, this was a great help until we got our own pram off the baggage carousel.

Whilst in Dubai we stayed at the Marina Byblos Hotel on the Marina, close to Jumeriah Beach Walk. The people there were very family friendly and made us feel very welcome! Little things such as the maid giving me extra water for Leo each day made life a lot easier! They also provided a baby travel cot for Leo to sleep in.
Although the heat was close to 30 degrees, Leo dealt with it very well and we utilised the travel Moses basket that Leo's Nana bought him to give him shade from the sun. Around 2/3pm we usually headed in for him to cool down and have a nap :)

Overall the holiday was fab! The airline made life easier and so did the people of Dubai!
Its always handy to call the airline you travel with and ask what they can do for you and your infant, you may be surprised like I was!

I hope this has been helpful and see how children friendly some airlines can be! I certainly will be using Emirates again :)

Speak soon,

Alexa and Leo #babytamburello
